When you book Warren James Palmer to photograph your wedding, you get, well me.... Not a junior photographer, not some bloke from another wedding studio... Just me and perhaps my assistant. I only photograph one wedding per day, so I'm not about to dash off half way through the ceremony. After all, I would like to have a bit of fun as well!
I shoot just digital these days. Using the latest Nikon professional digital cameras, there is no limit to the amount of photography wedding and corporate photography images I will take on your behalf. I'll basically keep shooting until I think the job is done!
I carry backup digital equipment for everything and will often download your corporate photography images onto a laptop during the day. Giving everyone a quick glance to see the results. I can even arrange for broadcast quality digital video to be shot at the same time as the stills photography wedding (with the help of my assistant).

How long have you been a professional photography wedding photographer?

Warren James Palmer started takingphotography wedding photographs for a living way back in 1983 at the tender age of 18. I moved from Birmingham to London to seek fame and fortune as a trendy young photographer, in the traditional fashion. Well, I'm not young or trendy anymore, but I am still a professional photographer. The photographic world has changed a lot since then...

The last film Warren James Palmer shot was a couple of years ago. I still have my Bronica and Nikon film cameras, but virtually everything is now shot on my digital Nikon D2X professional. Digital photography is simply different from film photography. The workflow and skill set is different (particularly in post-production). Today's clients are looking for high quality corporate photography with a fast turnaround. Many of my clients download their corporate photography images directly from the website. Clearly,photography wedding digital photography with digital corporate photography retouching and editing, is better suited to the demands of today's corporate environment. Yes. After the shoot all the photographs are downloaded onto the computer and they then go through an editing process. The edited photographs are cut onto a CD or DVD and sent to the client in a presentation case. Yes. I supply your< b>photography wedding photographs as high resolution images without watermarks. Usually, I work alone. Over the years I've become used to working in a flexible, but coordinated photography wedding way. Generally, I find working with an assistant gets in the way of the 'flow' of the shoot. However, when the occasion demands it, I employ freelance assistants. Copyright is a big subject, but in short yes. The artist's (photographer) copyright is protected by law. However, I generally allow my photography wedding photographs to be used 'royalty free' within the organisation which commissioned the shoot. Which means the photographs can be used for in house brochures, annual reports etc, without having to worry about copyright. Which is the best practical solution given the copyright law. However, if the photography were passed on to another company or a sister company, permission would have to be gained before the images could be used. As I said, copyright is a complex subject. In practice, a bit of common sense is required; if you use the photographs within an organisation fine; if you syndicate the photographs worldwide (like one recent client) without seeking permission, then don't be surprised when you get a nasty letter and a big bill.... All aspects of Photography. Warren James Palmer has been a professional photographer for over two decades, so there is very little in the field of photography that I haven't seen or worked on. However, my main areas of professional photography are corporate, advertising, architecture, photography wedding and location photography. Which is enough, but I'm always game on for something different!

What would happen if there was a fault with your camera?
Warren James Palmer always carries a spare camera back, spare lenses, flash and memory cards. So, although I've never had equipment failure, I am prepared to simply switch to backup equipment if required.

Do you shoot RAW or JPEG?
Depends. If I'm taking corporate photography product photographs where colour balance and quality is paramount, then I will shoot in RAW format. If I am shooting more general work, then I will tend to shoot in JPEG format. In reality, very few clients require or benefit from shooting in RAW format.

Do you retouch all your photographs in Photoshop?
No not really... I try my best to get the photograph right in the camera; framing, lighting, colour balance, everything. It simply isn't practical to Photoshop every image when you are shooting thousands of photographs a month!
Having said that, I use Nikon Capture to batch process all my corporate photography images. Mainly to increase sharpness, contrast, balance levels and to rename the images. In some cases, such as with product shots, in depth Photoshop work is required and I charge separately for corporate photography this work. I've been using Photoshop since it was first developed, so I'm pretty experienced with it!

Once the photo shoot is over what happens next?
As soon as I get back from attending a photography wedding photo shoot I download all the photographs onto the computer and immediately cut a DVD or the unedited images. I then backup the computer to a removable hard disk drive. Thus ensuring that the original photography wedding images are never lost. All the photographs then go through a 'workflow' editing process. Once I am happy with the editedphotography wedding photographs I will upload a sample to my web server. I will then send you a username and password. This will give you access to the client area where you can view your photographs and download them.
I will then send you a DVD of all the high resolution edited images. This DVD will come in a presentation jewel case. Yes. There is a client area on the website where you can put a basket of your corporate photography images together and then download them as a zip file. These are un watermarked high resolution images. Downloading the final photographs online is a very popular option, particularly for overseas clients. sitemap
